Feminism is the school of thought which taught us that women are equal to men not the same, not superior, not subordinate but equal. It is not who you are it is what you want to be! The purpose behind feminism is that in 1997, Vishaka from Rajasthan was gang raped. In 2001, Laxmi became a victim of an acid attack and much more. If we look at actual figures, Women are half of the world’s population, working 2-3rd of the world’s working hours but receiving only 10% of the world’s income, owning less than 1% of the world’s property which shows the case of inequality. We all have heard about the one-child policy introduced in China. The basic purpose was to control the population but it only changed to control the population of girls. Due to that many little girls were killed in their mother’s womb. Just imagine they can’t have the freedom to live a life, to see the world, to hear the voices. So, it is evident that when the equality level will reach the bar of 99%, feminism itself would fade away. Feminism is not about compromising on girl child education, not treating girls as a liability, not letting any man take over the custody of girls on behalf of money and gifts, not reserving household chores for them to consider them as weak. feminism is not only for women or girls it is for both whether girls or boys, male and female, man and woman to consider them equal. But to change or reshape this perception, and thoughts we as youth need to come forward to fight for ourselves if we see wrong on the other hand not to take benefit of these things in a wrong way. To sum up, feminism isn’t about making women stronger we as women are already strong. It is about changing the way the world perceives their strength. It is to reshape our perception.
